Why I started Courage Loading

Courage Loading began during a transition in my own life.

After more than 20 years across Finance, Risk, Audit, Operations, Change and Learning and Development, I had built a career I was proud of. But I had also become very good at getting on with things: working hard, solving problems, taking on the next challenge and meeting expectations.

For a long time, I thought that was ambition.

Eventually, I realised I was moving forward without always asking whether I was moving towards something I genuinely wanted.

I was not starting from scratch. I had experience, judgement, relationships and a great deal behind me. But I needed to step back and decide what I wanted to do with all of that next.

Starting this podcast was part of that decision. It was also a small act of courage. I wanted to use my voice more openly, but I was uncomfortable with being visible, and even with hearing myself recorded. So I started before I felt fully ready.

That is what Courage Loading is about: the human work of transition. The moments when an old role, identity or way of working no longer fits, and we are working out what comes next. The small, honest decisions that shape how we work, lead and move forward.
